Biography
Julian Essink is a German photographer, artist & creative director, living in Berlin. Following his bachelor’s degree in Photography & Media at Fachhochschule Bielefeld in 2016, Julian began living between Barcelona and Los Angeles.
These formative years abroad allowed him to expand his visual language from a commercial to an editorial standpoint. He returned to Germany in 2019.
Julian focuses on the subtle emotion present in every interaction, looking to show the stories his subjects are communicating. His approach to authenticity translates into reduced, honest, and often documentary-like images.
Notably, Julian’s work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Complex, or Highsnobiety. He has photographed numerous German musicians like Casper, Kraftklub, Cro, and Max Herre, but also internationally renowned names like Asap Rocky, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Macklemore, Talib Kweli, and Rakim.
His commercial portfolio includes work for brands such as Zalando, New Balance, Dr. Hauschka, Adidas, Genesis and American Express to name a few.
