Sjoerd is a true car aficionado and design enthusiast. In his work he breaks the rules of conventional car photography, shows a creative new approach with natural light, original angles and perspectives as well as an excellent eye for details that underline the design aspect of the car.

Sjoerd is an autodidact in photography, a petrolhead when it comes to his passion for cars and a minimalist and perfectionist for clear lines in composition and architecture.
Sjoerds goal is to bring back the spontanity and honesty in car photography. He shows cars in a realistic, sometimes even voyeuristic - but always good looking - way.
This unique and different approach, as well as his fast way of working and the huge variation of angles on every shoot is a relief to most art-directors who are fed up with the traditional ? 'I need a day, a truck of light and four assistants for this shot' ? type of working.
The Dutchman prefers working in small teams instead, when possible in a guerillia style. Shooting a lot, making the most out of every situation and having something to choose from in the end is what he's aiming for.
Sjoerd studied Interactive Media in Amsterdam and worked as a designer in London. Since his first shoot (LEXUS in 2009 - the art director found his work via Flickr(!), he teamed up with agents, built a solid portfolio and continued shooting for well known brands such as ASTON MARTIN, AUDI, BMW and VOLKSWAGEN.
Sjoerd (1983) lives nearby Amsterdam with his girlfriend, four chickens and a dog. He is worldwide represented by SCHIERKE ARTISTS.
